Photographing Movement - first try

I wanted to test how to take pictures with movement effectively so that they will still end up with meaning rather than just being a blur.

I started off by testing out shutter speed to see which speed I should be using to get a slight blur to my images.

I took a picture of the subject being still and then of them moving their head from side to side quite fast with the same shutter speed.

This is my result:

1/125

1/100

1/80

1/60

1/50

1//40

1/30

I then changed it so that the subject waved their arms and head quite fast to see the movement of the rest of the body.

This is my result:

1/250

1/200

1/160

1/125

1/100

1/80

1/60

1/50

1/40

1/30

After the shoot, although I got quite a good amount of blur at 1/30 exposure time, this was with fast movement and partaking in this fast movement isn't a very serious activity so I needed to plan a shoot with a slow shutter speed below 1/30.

I liked the blur effect of 1/30 but it was a bit too blurry as I wouldn't be able to pick up facial expressions with this kind of speed and I need to be able to capture expressions to show feelings in my next project.
