1) Use effective hashtags -
Use all 30 tags for maximum effect. Try to not clutter your followers feeds by hiding the hashtags by simply pressing enter to lower them past the visibility line so you can only see them if you click 'more' like so:
Do not use popular hashtags as the collection of images to these hashtags will be constantly refreshing quickly with new images uploaded with the hashtag so your image will not be there to view for very long and may attract spam accounts.
Use tags related to your image and maybe a few random tags like #healthy and #followforfollow to try and gain traffic from other interests.
Use instagram tags from accounts that search your tag to share your images to their page. For example: a portrait photography account with 100k followers. Tag them and their hashtag in to your portrait you've uploaded and they will hopefully feature your image, allowing the 100k to see your image on their feed, giving you a lot moe viewers than using random hashtags.
I found a few to try out: https://petapixel.com/2016/06/22/hashtags-instagram-use-properly/
2) Post at the right time of day -
Most people work from 9-5 so posting between 9-5 is a waste of time as most people are not using social media.
Post between 7-9am, this is when people are waking up and checking social media.
Post between 12:30-2pm, this is when most people have a break at work.
Post between 5-7pm, this is when most people are travelling on public transport to get home and/or finishing work and want to check social media.
Posting on a friday evening and saturday evening would be a bit pointless as people are getting ready and meeting up with people for a night out as it's the weekend.
Sunday evenings when most people have a day off, they will look at social media, especially in the evening between 5-8pm as they will check social media after dinner and before bed.
3) Consistency -
If somebody wants to follow your account they will first have a quick scroll of your content and if you are only posting every other week they will not follow you as you will not appear in their newsfeed for a long time. People want to be constantly updated.
BIO - I think a bio needs to be short and enticing as people will only look at your account for a few seconds to determine whether to follow you or not. Do not fill this space with unnecessary information or too much information as it will just look messy.
Name - Don't use a silly/long name, use a short catchy, kind of professional looking name otherwise people may see this and not take the account seriously.
My account
My instagram account is called: @sjphotos96
I shall be using this account to post pictures at different times every day to see the effect hashtags have on the amount of viewers and likes I can get.
I already have 12 posts from a previous project which didnt go ahead so these images have no likes and the account has no followers or following.
If people quickly scroll through my account and see these 12 images from a while ago they may think I post often - hopefully.
